Viewing Custom SharePoint Column Data in File Explorer or Finder

I have several custom columns in SharePoint Online that are very useful for our business processes. However - many of our users prefer to work directly from OneDrive on their desktops. Our SharePoint libraries are fully synced to OneDrive on desktops. Users want to be able to access as well as add relevant SharePoint column metadata *directly from their desktops.*1. Is this possible, for Windows and Mac? 2. If so - how? 3. If not - what useful workarounds have you used to help users benefit from custom column metadata - while enabling them to continue to work from their desktops? Thanks!

Hi EMorris84,

Thank you for your message in this forum.

According to your description, it seems that you want to view custom columns from SharePoint Online in the computer locally, does it mean that you want to sync the files and customize columns to the local at the same time?

If so, we’re afraid that there is no out of box way to achieve that. Generally, we will only see the columns below:

We understand the situation and you make a great point. To address your concern about the situation, we’d suggest you go to SharePoint UserVoice to provide your feedback. This is the best platform to let us hear from you and make our products and services better for you and others.

If the scenario above is not consistent with yours, could you provide more details about “several custom columns in SharePoint Online”?

Thank you for your understanding!

Best Regards,

Sukie
