MS Forms Error in points awarded for multi answer questions

Anonymous
2019-10-01T08:08:19+00:00

I have written a multiple choice test for my students.  Each question has between ONE and THREE correct answers (question written by exam board).

I have identifyed the correct answers and then allocated the relivant points to each question 1, 2, or 3.

When a student gets ONE correct answer on a TWO answer question they appear to receive no marks.  Am I doing something wrong?  I can correct this when I cekc that answers but this takes time.

Any help appreciated

    Greetings,

This is been a long requested feature since 2016. Is there any timeframe where this would be enabled and become available?

Otherwise, it requires all multi answer questions to be reviewed manually if Respondents do not select all relevant correct answers. Also the ability to penalize for incorrect answers would also be a valuable feature.

    Example:

If I students selected forespondents do not select all relevant correct answers. Also the ability to penalize for incorrect answers would also be a valuable feature.

    Example:

If a student selected 4 answers and only three of them were correct they would receive two points. I have looked through the feeds this is asked for often and over multiple years and allows for robust question design that provides valuable insight to student thinking with proper question design.

    Hi Stanley,

Thanks for your reply and updates. From your description, you would like to have set the partial credit for the correct answers in your quiz so that your students who selected one correct answer in a multiple chooses question will still get 1 points out of 2. I am afraid it is a feature limitation for Microsoft Forms at this moment. Sorry for the inconveniences caused. A lot of users also noticed this limitation about allow partial credit for answers on MS quiz, you can click here to vote this feature on Forms UserVoice. It is the most efficient way to let product team aware this limitation and improve on it. Thank you for your understanding.

    Best regards,

    Dihao

I have just got your reply

It appears that the error appears with all quiz's and questions.

Your scenario does not show a student getting one correct and one incorrect answer?

I am currently manually correcting the mark that is incorrect.  My quiz is out of 10 and they need to gain a mark for each correct answer.

No marks are lost for incorrect answers

From what I can see all forms have the same error.

I am currently setting up more.  It may be an issue in my setup but not sure where.

    Hi Stanley,

Thank you for your message in this forum.

According to your description, it seems that the students didn’t get the correct points after they answered the questions.

May I know if the scenario above is consistent with yours? If so, I have tested it on our side and we cannot reproduce the same situation, as shown below:

Given this situation, I want to confirm the information below with you:

    1. Do all the students have the same problem?
    2. Do all the Forms have the same problem?
    3. Could you provide the screenshot of the “they appear to receive no marks”?

At the same time, you can try another browser to check if the same problem will occur.

If the scenario above is not consistent with yours, could you provide more details about “When a student gets ONE correct answer on a TWO answer question they appear to receive no marks.”?

    Best Regards,

    Sukie
