Does Logging Out Delete Unsynced Changes?

I'm having syncing issues in OneNote on an iPad. I have made a large number of changes to notes since the last sync was successful.

If I log out of my account in OneNote on the iPad and then log back in, will the unsynced changes be deleted and/or lost, or are they saved in an offline cache that will preserve them upon signing back into the account?

I had the same issue a time ago, and due that, I started to work with small notebooks synced with my mobile devices.

Sorry for this but, the cache copy is in a completely different format than the original files. All notes are fragmented into small portions. Each “fragment” represents an object, such as a paragraph of text or an image.
These cache files are not usable, for example as a notebook backup. They are also rather fragile.
So, you will need to copy your notes to other location in order to avoid a dataloss.
Is clearly that OneNote for mobile version need a backup feature for this situations.

I suggest you to send your feedback to iOS OneNote UserVoice.
Is the only way to communicate with Product group, they always see ideas and suggestions from community users.

The notebook is not syncing from the iPad which I why I need to log out and then log back in to try and fix the syncing error. (This was the recommended first step to try and fix the issue). However, if logging out will delete all of the unsynced changes on the iPad, how can I preserve my unsynced changes and still fix the syncing error?

It's SURE that unsynced changes are deleted at logout. By design.

    Dear DouglasAnsel,

Thanks for participating in the Microsoft Community. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll help you.

I suggest you that don't do that, it's pretty probably that you lose all your changes, first, with any internet browser in your mobile device / pc or Mac go to https://onenote.com access with your Office account and verify if you have all your notebooks synced in the cloud.

Check out this recommendations for large notebooks in order to improve Onenote performance in iOS devices:

Do not hesitate to ask if you need more information.

I hope it has been useful to you.

    Regards,

    Renzo.
