    Hi JanisFall,

Welcome to the Community Forum and we’re glad to help you on this issue.

For Microsoft Daemon, you can refer to this thread. For summary, as also mention above advisor it is a small piece of software that periodically checks Microsoft's servers to see if there are updates to Microsoft Office. Given that Microsoft continues to release security and other patches for Office. It’s part of Microsoft AutoUpdate app.

For the error message, it seems there’s something wrong with it. I would suggest you go to ~Library/Application Support/Microsoft/, then find the MAU<version number> folder, then move it to trash. Then re-install Microsoft AutoUpdate app latest version 4.14 package from this page. The latest MAU version is 4.12. After that, re-launch your Office apps and see whether the issue is fixed.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Best Regards,

    Waqas Muhammad

AU is AutoUpdate. Sounds like you should reinstall AutoUpdate.

Download, install and then run the latest version of AutoUpdate to update Office.

    You can read this:

Microsoft AU Daemon is a small piece of software that periodically checks Microsoft's servers to see if there are updates to Microsoft Office. Given that Microsoft continues to release security and other patches for Office, it is probably a good idea to leave it running (or at least remember to check manually if you disable it)
