Each time I open an Excel file (located in our OneDrive) I get this error that says, "UPLOAD FAILED X Your file wasn't uploaded because your changes can't be merged with changes made by someone else. Save a copy. Discard Changes.

I am the only person who uses these files.

I do not have another copy of the file open.

I do not have other excel files open.

    Hi Samantha,

Sorry for the confusion, I meant that you may close this featureto fix the error.

Meanwhile, you may also check if the same workbook is opened in somewhere else at the same time, for example in a browser or in another device. If so, you may try closing the workbook from there and see if the same behavior would appear.

Please let us know if there is any update.

    Best Regards,

    Nathan

    Nathan,

I neglected to mention I am using Excel installed on my machine as part of Office365, not on the web app.

I do not work in the web apps.

I do not see any such OneDrive icon when I am in Excel.

I do not have a OneDrive icon anywhere on my utility tray.

Are you instructions related to something I will see when I log into Office365 on the web?

    Hi Samantha,

Thank you for your reply. Please note that according to the error message, this error is related to the OneDrive sync client that is installed on your PC. You may locate it at the bottom right of your desktop or click "^" to find it:

After you clicked on the OneDrive cloud icon, you may click on More > Settings, then under the "Office" tab, uncheck "Use Office applications to sync Office files that I open" > click OK.

Please let us know if you have any further concerns.

    Best Regards,

    Nathan

    That is already in place.

    It is still happening.

I manually synched OneDrive from the web yesterday and again this morning.

The settings you describe were already in place when I opened the settings you mention.

I have to save a new version. Got to the folder delete the old one that "couldn't merge" and then rename the new folder.
