OneDrive Sync limit

Question

When will we get a faster OneDrive sync client for Sharepoint users?

We are a small company andone department with 7 users are creating Excel, word and PDF documents and sharing for review when creating offers for our clients and the files take up to 30 min to sync via the onedrive client. Making us think to revert back to our old file server from the new Sharepoint option.

Its mainly due to the fact that we are exceeding the 5000 items threshold, wich I think should be much higher.

Is the a faster option on the horizion?

The sync client is buggy and not very well engineered. You're better off creating network locations which allow you to open files directly within file explorer with no delay and no local duplication of files.

Thanks for posting on our forum.

About the sync-speed, it is more related to net speed.

As you have many files to sync, it may need some times to complete the process, you can also check if you have set the limit of network.

1. Right click OneDrive icon>select Settings.
2. Select Network>check Don’t limit.

We have removed the limitation of 5000 items on the new sync client, you can use the new sync client to get better experience:
