Offline activation

I've just spent a frustrating day installing and then failing to activate Office 2016 Home & Student on a non-networkable PC (including almost an hour on the MS live "chat").

The "Product Key" I purchased turns out to need a network connection to activate.

Are there any SKUs which can be activated by phone (and don't require any connection to remain activated)?

You will note that Step 2 of that contains "[...] you need to activate Office. Be sure you're connected to the Internet and then open any Office application [...]"

Is offline activation possible with any extant Office SKU?

I'm sorry for taking so much time to reply, I had to search for a solution to your problem.

What method did you use to install Office on that computer? If you used the method of this link below, you only would have to press *Accept* and the installation would be activated.

That Activation Wizard is never shown.  I see something like below:

On clicking "Back", a screen offering "Sign in" and  "Sign up" buttons is shown.  Both of those require a network connection.  A third option, something like "I don't want to sign up", brings back the above screen.

There is no means (that I can see) to trigger a different dialog to begin an activation-by-phone process.

Office 2016 can be activated via phone! In the article below are the steps that you need to do to activate it that way.
