OneDrive Incorrect System Folder Size

OneDrive has been downloaded to OneDrive folder.  When I check the OneDrive Properties the total size shown for all folders/files is less than the actual number of files, folders, & GB.

This is not good.

when I check the properties of my "_InformationTechnology" folder, the result is 200 files, 67 folders, 367MB.

I then go into that folder, and select all the folders and files.  The result should be the same right?

instead I get more files and more folders and more data 329 files, 125 folders, 0.98GB

The above case should be enough to understand the problem.

    But there is more.

This _InformationTechnology folder was copied from my local disk.  I want this folder to live in the cloud. but before I delete the original on my local disk... I always check the properties to make sure I have uploaded to OneDrive every single file....

On my Local disk, for the same folder as above, the property results are 5029 files, 512 folders, 2.73GB

But when I drill down to each subfolder all files and folders are accounted for, they are not missing as far as I can tell, the properties scan for folders and files stop prematurely, maybe only going down one or two directory levels.

Regarding OneDrive total size (all folders & files) the size when check properties under OneDrive System Folder the total size shown in OneDrive Properties is different and less than when each folder size is checked individually written down then a total is created.

OneDrive System Properties do not match and are lower than total of each folder/file under individually under OneDrive System Properties.

    This is not good.

    Respectfully,

    Roke Westin

    Hello BredClever,

Thank you for posting in the forum. I am an independent advisor and I will try to help you, solving the issue.

Did you sync your whole OneDrive to your disk? Is the difference between the size shown in file explorer and OneDrive? And which version of Windows do you have?

    Regards,

    Manuela
