Hi Jacob,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

I tested at our end by these steps:

  1. Create an Excel worksheet in File Explorer by right-click and choose Microsoft excel worksheet.
  2. Double-click this document.

In the Excel, I didn’t see the reverse situation and the Arabic Sheet name, it can be creatednormally. Per your description, I want to confirm that if you have this situation when you open worksheet in File Explorer:

I suggest you try these steps and see the result:

  1. Go to Excel-> File-> Option-> Advanced-> Display -> Default direction. Change it to Left-to-Right.
  2. Go to Excel-> Open-> Go to the path and choose this file. Check if it can display normally.
  3. Create a new user profile and see create worksheet in same way. Check if it can create normally.
  4. Go to Apps&Features-> Office-> Modify-> Online Repair. To fix this problem.

If the issue persists, we want to collect the related information to move further:

  1. Does this issue only happen to Excel?
  2. Do you install Arabic language pack? (Excel->Option-> Language). If yes, please remove it and try again.
  3. Can you provide the screenshot about the Excel version? Excel-> File-> Account-> Product Information and take screenshot about this page.

Regards,

Ivy

    Hello Ivy,

I have the same issue. It only occurs when I create a new worksheet from right-click menu>new.

I have tried "online repair" but it doesn't work.

I found the following file which has a tab name in Arabic and it shows like the screenshot above.

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\vfs\Windows\SHELLNEW\EXCEL12.XLSX

So I think there should be a setting which make a wrong template file in a wrong language.

Actually I had an answer from MS via IT department in my company, and MS said they don't have a solution even they considered it is a bug.

I'm just curious why MS haven't any solution for this.

    Best Regards,

    Yuwei
