Multiple Profiles on Same Computer Registers Duplicate Devices for O365 Licensing

I have 3 computers that have multiple profiles and I was able to produce this on all 3 computers.

Example:

Computer is named "Family" and has 1 profile for the kids and 1 profile for the parents.  O365 Home is installed on the computer and when completing the installation I logged into O365 under each profile.  When I then login to my online O365 account, the computer "Family" is now listed 2 times under "Devices".

I assume this is a bug in the new O365 licensing that requires a login for each installation since multiple profiles should only count as a single device.

Can someone from MS please confirm?

Thanks.

    Palcouk,

This is not correct.  When you login to each profile it prompts you to login to O365.  What you said would have been valid prior to the changes MS made back in Q4 2018 / Q1 2019 but it is no longer applicable.

    Diane,

O365 was always licensed per device, not by user.  While it is a PITA the setup multiple profiles with Windows 10, this is something we have been doing for years for customers running Win 10 and Win 7.  Prior to recent changes, having 2-3 profiles on a single device only counted as a single license.  The snipet you cut and pasted above indicates per device licensing, not per user.

"You can install Office on all your devices and be signed in to five devices at the same time. "

I would appreciate a response from someone at MS because the changes continue to be very confusing for integrators such as us.

    Thanks.

As far as I know, it is not a bug and is expected behavior - Office subscriptions are licensed to the user, not the computer.

You log in to win on the primary win admin user account to install 365, which will then be available to all win users on that PC

You do not login to each win user to install 365 for each users
