When opening a powerpoint document on the web browser, any object already made by somebody else cannot be edited, is this a limitation of office online (sharepoint) or is there an option to enable editing of any object in the web browser application?
It works perfectly fine when opening the document in powerpoint on my machine

Hi EmmanuelDC,
Let's exclude the reason from PowerPoint Online first, please go to PowerPoint online and create a new presentation. If you could edit the slide with no problem, the root cause is more likely your permission level of the site. (read-only permission level)
Could you open and edit other files in the same folder? (like Word or Excel)
You say you could open the document in local PowerPoint client, Could I understand that you already synced the library to your local machine by OneDrive sync client?
Regards,
Eric
