Hi,
Visio has a bug (feature?) wherein changing the shape data for one shape changes it for all same shapes in the diagram. This is problematic since I work with P&ID diagrams where it is necessary to pinpoint the specific ID for a component. If all valves have the same data, the whole diagram is ruined.

Dear Rodeem,
May I know if you need further help on this issue?

Dear Rodeem,
Thanks for your updates.
For us to check the behavior in our environment, could upload a full screenshot of the Account page in the Visio 2016 application you are using for our reference? You can access the page via File>Account.
Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.
Best Regards,
Cliff
Hello Cliff,
My employer has strict guidelines for sharing media with third parties so, regrettably, that will not be an option.
To better detail it:
Drag and drop a shape onto the sheet at least twice twice > right click the first one to edit its shape data > change any field > the other shapes' data for the same field should be the same now.
This does not happen every time, yet I have not yet found the correct configuration to trigger this behavior.
Ctrl-clicking and dragging a shape to duplicate it seems to be a fail-safe method to prevent this behavior, yet it would be helpful to both get rid of this behavior or harness it to change the properties of multiple shapes at once.
BR,
Dear Rodeem,
To clarify the issue in your environment, I’d like you to record a video showing the issue symptom and the reproducing steps of the issue in your environment. If you confirm that the video link can be shared publicly, please add your confirmation and provide the video link here directly. If no, provide the video link in the private message.
You can use PowerPoint 2016 to record the video.
For your reference: Record your screen in PowerPoint
Meanwhile, I’d like you to upload a full screenshot of the Account page in Visio 2016. You can access the page via File>Account.
Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.
Best Regards,
Cliff
