Fill series not working for dates or numbers

Hi,

I am having an issue with "Fill series".

Here's the problem:

Dates and numbers won't fill in consecutive order. Instead it is repeating the pattern over and over in all workbooks. Formulas are working fine to fill(=A2+B2). Fill series don't even show up as an option when dragging the bottom right corner.

I have checked the following

* Open a new workbook

* Restart Excel

* Restart computer

* No filters are on

* Allow fill handle and cell dragging and dropping is checked in Preferences

* Calculation Options is set to Automatic. Both in Excel -> Preferences -> Calculations -> Calculation Options and **Formulas -> Calculation Options.**I've also tried turning them on and off

I am using Excel for mac v16.33 and recently updated to this version.

All help is much appreciated!

    Hi Andreas,

    Thank you for your message in this forum.

    According to your description, it seems that you cannot fill in dates and numbers in consecutive when dragging the bottom right corner.

    May I know if the scenario above is consistent with yours? If so, we have tested it on our side with Excel 16.33 and we cannot reproduce the same situation as yours. As steps shown below:

    I created Date and number as same as yours, I just entered 2019-01-01 and 1, when I drag the bottom right of 2019-01-01, it was been filled automatically, as shown below:

    And I can see Fill series when dragging the bottom right corner.

    Since you have tried restarting Excel、computer、creating a new file and setting those options, however, it didn’t work. Given this situation, you can also tried the suggestions below to check if they can help you.

    1. You can go to Home > Fill under Editing > select Series > Select Date in the Type column and Day in the Date Unit column to check if the same problem will occur.
    2. You can set up Mac in safe mode according to this article: Start up in safe mode. This can help you troubleshoot whether it is caused by third-party software which installed on Mac.

    If the problem still persists, could you provide the information below?

    1. Could you provide the Mac OS?
    2. May I know if it worked before? If so, may I know if this issue occurs after updating Excel?

    Best Regards,

    Sukie

    Is the column formatted as a date?
