Hi,

What I experienced: ‘IOWSPostData’ failed” in SharePoint online when importing spreadsheet and 'Cannot connect to the server at this point, your table cannot be published' when exporting table to SP.

Firstly, I tried following this thread as much of it is exactly what I experience, but the solution that worked I can't seem to find in here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/error-method-post-of-object-iowspostdata-failed-in/31d995da-a683-4270-81c2-93c6f089a4bd?page=2

I have both tried to export a spreadsheet via an app and the table into a SharePoint list in O365 with the below error messages:

...what to do?

Microsoft 365 and Office | SharePoint | For business | Windows

Hi Dihao,

The test site that was set up for me is what I suspect to have been the cause behind me not being able to import an Excel spreadsheet / or table. I had a colleague try as well and she couldn't either.

Now she has created another closed site in our product environment instead, where it works fine. I have succesfully imported my spreadsheet.

Thank you for replying :-)

    Hi Kaja_SHA,

Thanks for your updates. It seems that the problem could be caused by the pervious site which it can’t establish the connection with the workbook. However, glad to hear that the spreadsheet can be successfully imported to another site. Thanks for sharing the information.

    Best regards,

    Dihao

    Hi Kaja_SHA,

From your description, when you import an Excel table to SharePoint Online site list with two different methods, it popped up the above two error message. I have also tried creating a table in Excel and import to one of my SharePoint site according to these two articles “Export an Excel table to SharePoint” and “Create a list based on a spreadsheet” which both methods work from my side. Based on the error messages, it seems that Excel cannot establish the connection with your SharePoint site.

To help us further narrow down this problem, may I know the following information?

1: What is the extension name of the workbook you created? The sample file I created is .xlsx.

2: Did this issue happen in all the sites that you tried exporting the Excel table to SharePoint? You can also try exporting the table to the other SharePoint site. If it is convenient, you can create a new SharePoint site and a new Excel file to import the data. It can help us to determine whether the problem is related to the site or even your organization tenant.

3: When did this problem occurred? Do the other SharePoint site editors have the same problem?

    Best regards,

    Dihao
