What happens when you serve the web part in the local workbench? You can't rely on Msft's often unintelligible error messages so what does the console/error log show?

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your query in this community.

Per your issue description, I believe you have created an SharePoint framework webpart and it's not working as expected. As this issue is related with the SPFx coding which is not supported in this community, your concern will be better addressed at the TechNet Forum.

Please raise a new thread there and hope your issue would be addressed by the experts.

    We greatly appreciate your understanding.

    Regards,

    Alex Chen
