PowerPoint embedded into SharePoint not updating

I am having troubles with an embedded PowerPoint not updating on a SharePoint site.

My team has a couple of PPT files that are used as live/working documents that get regular updates, these are maintain in a central teams folder.

I have created a Flow to copy the file when modified and overwrites the existing file with the latest version to a SharePoint site, so far this seems to working fine.

However, when the PPT file is overwritten with the latest version, the PPT displayed in the SharePoint site does not update. But I do note that when I select download, the correct/latest version of the file is downloaded.

Looking at the embedded code that SharePoint generated when you add a PPT using the file verier option, it appears to be pointing to a https://XXXXXXXXX.sharepoint.com/sites/XXXXXX/\_layouts/15/Doc.aspx?

I assume this document needs to be refreshed or deleted and regenerated, for the SharePoint site to display correctly.

Can anyone provided some guidance or work around?

    Hi Warwick_Astley,

To investigate this issue, I’d like to confirm the following things:

    1. How do you embed the PPT to the SharePoint page? Which operations below are you using:

Open PPT in PowerPoint Online>File>Share>Embed>copy the code.

     a. ClickEditpage>Insert>Embed Code>paste the PPT code.

     b. Create a modern SharePoint team site page, click the Content Embed button to paste the PPT code.

    c. In modern SharePoint site did you use File viewer webpart to embed the PPT file?

2.Could you please share with us detail your issue scenario.

    3. By”when the PPT file is overwritten with the latest version”, can you share us more details on the latest version? Did you publish a major version of this presentation or just simply edit the presentation and save the changes?

    1. Which browser are you using? Change to other browsers to check if the issue is related to specific browser, because Browser Cache might cause the issue.

    Regards,

    Hello Waqas,

    Thanks for your response, and in response to your questions;

    1. I used the file viewer webpart, then selected the PPT file that is stored in the sites document library.
    2. Note sure what you mean by this question "Could you please share with us detail your issue scenario"

    3. The PPT file get regular updates my multiple people, some changes may be small, others may be major changes. When ever the file is modified, the MS flow I created copies the modified file and overwrites the existing file in the document library of the SharePoint site.

    1. I primarily use Chrome, but I have tried with Internet Explorer aswell, the issue is the same with both browsers.

    Kind regards,

    Warwick Astley

    Hi Warwick_Astley,

we test in our side and we cannot reproduce this issue my test steps are below:

After creating a PowerPoint web page via **File viewer webpart>**we go to documents library and click the same PowerPoint file and download into PC desktop syncs folder and we edit a file with some content and then we upload the same file with same content file name, after when we open PowerPoint web pages we can see updates content.

We understand that you are using Microsoft Flow to replace the files, so we would like to ask you to try and replace the file manually according to the steps above and see if you still encounter the same behavior. This will help us narrow down whether the issue only occurs when using Microsoft Flow’s automation.

Additionally, please also provide us with the specific Microsoft Flow template that you used to replace the file.

We would also like to know whether the issue occur with a specific PowerPoint file? please test in your site creating a new one and see if there is a difference in behavior.

    Appreciate your understanding.

    Regards,

    Waqas Muhammad
