Split from this thread.

I am having the same problem as Paul, as the OCR is not working neither on Mac app nor on Chrome.

Please advise.

Thanks,

S.

    Hi ShazaSabbagh,

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue caused.

OneNote has an OCR mechanism of its own which can find and index text inside any image so it can be searched. Search depends on OCR feature. In OneNote for Mac, an OCR engine is deployed on the Microsoft servers. Usually, it takes few minutes to few days or even longer before the Copy Text from Picture command is available.

We understand, it’s huge inconvenience to look for text when Search is not working as expected. In this regard, we’ll suggest you use the feedback tool in the upper-right corner of your OneNote app to send feedback directly to our team. This will have more impact on the Product Group as the feedback is coming directly from the customer.

Reference: How do I give feedback on Microsoft Office?

We appreciate your understanding. Have a nice day and stay safe.

    With sincerest regards,

    Neha

It's useless to split this thread. All have the same problem: OCR doesn't work anymore, except for good old OneNote 2016, because all newer OneNotes depend on OCR done on a server.

Due to the current server overload this feature has been stopped or no longer works (timeout ?).

    Asynchronous OCR: brilliant design 😣
