CSV formatting columns incorrectly

Hi, I'm running Excel O365 MSO 16.0.13001.20508 64 bit.  The CSV formatting to keep data in columns does not seem to work properly.  Now there is "some" word wrapping going on.  I've taken the step to open in Notepad and make changes to ", but this did not fix the issue.

Thanks.

Can you provide us with an example Excel that demonstrates the problem. Add notes in it to explicitly point us to the error and describe what you want it to look like.  And the CSV file you use to generate the Excel file. How do you split the file, are you actually using commas as separators, or are you using fixed width columns.

    .

Please describe the exact steps you take to import the data. There are several different ways to do it.

    .

Personally, I prefer to use PowerQuery.

Trouble shooting problems in files can be like a visit to the dentist, a long, slow painful process of us trying to “extract” the clues needed to recognize the problem in a back and forth flow of questions and answers so that we can come up with a / “the” solution.

    .

Often it is faster and easier for everyone if we have a “sample file” get "hands on", to look at, and to “play with”.

This next link provides some tips on setting up a sample file and specific instructions for uploading and "sharing" it for us to access:

Using “Invites” to specific people from inside Office apps. Modify document access permissions and add a “note” with “how to” instructions for recipient

The first 2 minutes of this video gives an example of What I mean by a “simple” example. Use short simple names and quantities, and just 2 or 3 rows per sample data you want calculations done on.  You want simple numbers so you can do the math checks in your head.

We’ve got headers and a large number of paired columns that need to be condensed down to just 2 columns.

    Hi,

We understand that the column in the CSV file can’t work properly at your end.

You mentioned that there are some words wrapping going on, can you please provide the screenshot of this behavior?  It could help us understand better.

In the meantime, I suggest you check whether your Office is not up to date. From the version number you provided, may I know whether you are using Current Channel 2007 version?  If yes, please try to update Office. Go to Excel-> Update Options-> Update Now.

Moreover, you can also try to create a new Excel worksheet to check whether issue persists. If issue persists after updating Office, please provide the screenshot of Excel-> Account-> Product Information page for us.

    Appreciate your cooperation.

    Best Regards,

    Ivy

If you see a reply suggesting that you call a Microsoft support number, please ignore it. It's fake.
