Hi Scott and thanks for the prompt follow-up.  I have reinstalled the Office 365 numerous times and it appears that everything is clean on the installs.  In addition I built and saved off a new skeleton DB and created a Template from it.  I get the same error when attempting to instantiate this new Template. I have only one Microsoft machine.  I have Linux and Mac machines, however Access is only available locally on MS OS.  The error message seems to indicate a fundamental issue with Access's inability read and instantiate any Template?  Do you know of way to fully run Access in the 365 cloud to eliminate my local MS machine as the possible source of the issue?

    Thank you, Mike

    Scott,

Sorry, let me be a bit more specific.

I made two different types of attempts to use Access 365 Templates.

Attempt 1) Failed when attempting to instantiate Access DB using standard out of the box templates that are provided with Access.  Original screen shots show the errors thrown by Access when attempting to instantiate Access DB using these Access Templates.

Attempt 2) Created and saved new Access DB with minimal content as Access DB successfully.  In addition, with this same Access DB instance, saved a Template locally successfully.  Failed when attempting to instantiate an Access DB with the newly created Template.  The errors thrown were the same as the errors described in Attempt 1.

    Thank again,  Mike

OK, If I'm understanding you, you created a file from a template selected from the templates list when you first open Access. Then you tried to create a template (accdt) from it. And when you try to open the accdt file you get the errors. Is that correct?

I think I tried playing with accdt files once a few years back. There doesn't seem to be much use for the accdt format. Can you explain what you are trying to accomplish using it?

Hi Mike, I'm an independent adviser and will try to help.

Based on the error message, it would appear that somehow the template is getting corrupted on download. Does this happen on all templates? Have you tried opening the templates on different machines? Have you tried repairing Office?
