When I tried to add a personal OneDrive account in my company's laptop, it tells me that the organization does not allow me to sync. So I changed the DisablePersonalSync in the registry to 0, but it didn't work. Can you show me how I can enable personal account sync?

Hi Zhou,

Thank you for your reply. As far as I know, the GPO is taken effect at organization level as it is a tool that admin can control user’s device, the registry you modified should be the local registry key. As it is an organization level setting, I am afraid there is no out of box way that we can bypass it without the permission from the organization’s administrator.

Best regards,

Dihao

    Hi Zhou,

Thank you for your reply. If your organization applies GPO to manage company devices, as the user, you are not able to enable personal account sync for OneDrive application unless your account has the administrator permission to make the changes.

For example, you may be able to change the settings in your local group policy settings on your device with your local administrator account, but the group policy settings at organizational level will overwrite it since it is highest in the Active Directory hierarchy are processed first.

For more information about Group Policy:

In this scenario, you need to contact the administrator of your company, such as IT department and see whether they can help you enable personal OneDrive sync with organizational administrator permission.

    Best regards,

    Dihao

    Hi Gloria,

Thanks for the info. Based on what you have provided, the GPO disables the personal sync by setting DisablePersonalSync to 1? If that's the case, then why it didn't get enabled when I set DisablePersonalSync to 0?

    Thanks,

    Zhou

    Hi ZhouZeng,

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Product. Based on your description, you are not allowed to sync when adding a personal OneDrive account in your company’s laptop.

Given your situation, sorry for the inconvenience caused, I think your admin has set some group policy to prevent you to sync OneDrive. For more information please check this article: Use Group Policy to control OneDrive sync settings

Therefore, you may contact your admin to check whether enable this setting.

Any updates you can post back let us know.😊

    Best regards,

    Gloria
