Hello,

I am trying to use Import Spreadsheets App to my Sharepoint site,  however this feature requires a ActiveX Control.

I am trying to activate it on my Edge Browser by clicking on Tools according the help article of Microsoft below. However, I ca not find the corresponding category to do that.

Would really appreciate your advise on this matter.

Thank you.

Najwa.

    Hi Najwa,

Thank you for your message in this forum.

According to your description, it seems that you want to add Import Spreadsheets App in SharePoint Online and it failed.

If so, we’re afraid that there is no out of box way to achieve that. Because you can only use Internet Explorer to use this feature, and ActiveX Controls can only be available in Internet Explorer. As Jim said, Active-X is an open source technology that has not been ported to the Mac. You can only achieve this in Internet Explorer in Windows. We’re sorry that it doesn’t meet your requirement. I do understand the inconvenience it has made and apologize for it. If it is convenient to you, you can use IE browser in Windows to achieve your requirement.

We have also tested in Microsoft Edge, and we also encountered the same error message, as shown below:

We understand the situation and you make a great point. To address your concern about the situation, we’d suggest you vote Import spreadsheet as list. This is the best platform to let us hear from you and make our products and services better for you and others.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Sukie

Active-X is an open source technology that has not been ported to the Mac. Everything Active-X is off-limits on a Mac.

Active X has fallen by the wayside with no replacement offered as all Msft products tend to do. If you can't access IE, many useful features won't work.

Active-X is open source. If anyone wants to port it to the Mac, they can.
