MDS add-in for Excel cannot be found in Excel add-ins list

Hi,

I have already installed the SQL Server 2014 MDS Add-in for Excel successfully without any error warning. Then I opened the Excel, but I cannot find the MDS add-in in the ribbon, and also nothing in the COM Add-ins list. I also tried to add manually from here C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\120\Master Data Services\Excel Add-In, all the .dll files have been tried, but still failed.

It is appreciated if you can find a good way to solve, thanks.

Best Regards

Robin

    Hi Robin,

Sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused.

I did a test on my side, but I cannot reproduce the same scenario.

After the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Master Data Services Add-in For Microsoft Excel is installed successfully, open Excel and a new Master Data tab is displayed on the ribbon.

And it shows correctly in Options > Add-ins.

To troubleshoot the issue you met, there’re some suggestions you can take:

    1. Please make sure you installed the add-in from the official source.
    2. Have a check at Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2014 to ensure the hardware and software meet the requirements.
    3. Update Office to the latest version. With Office updated, some issues would get resolved. So it’s a good idea to keep Office up to date.
    4. Perform Office Online Repair to fix the problem.

If the add-in still cannot be loaded correctly, we’d like to collect some information to further check it:

    1. Which version of Office do you have? After starting Excel, click on File > Account, please take a screenshot of the Product Information part and share it with us.
    2. Please also share us a screenshot of the Excel ribbon.
    3. Can other Excel add-ins be loaded successfully?

    Appreciate your time and patience.

    Best regards,

    Madoc

    Hi Madoc,

Thanks a lot for your help!

Now it's working after updating Office to the Version 2002. Great!
