Document on Task bar

It is possible to keep a "New Document" icon on the taskbar for Office 365 Word, ready to go with a single click whenever I need to create a new document...rather than going through the usual, lengthier startup process for Word?

    Hi Robin,

Like Doug and Suzanne, I usually keep Word running whenever I am at my computer.

I do not know a way to keep a link for a new document on the Task Bar, but you can right-click in the DeskTop, choose New, and then New Microsoft Word Document.

Alternatively, you can turn off display of the Start page on Word startup which will start Word with a new document. I think that is how most veteran Word users have their Word set this way. If you put Word on your Task Bar, this will accomplish what you want.

    I hope this information helps.

You only need to start Word once a day.  To facilitate creating a blank document, just press CTRL+n when the Word window is the active window, or add the New Blank Document button to the Quick Access Toolbar.

Thank you to all who responded. I am reluctant to leave the program on all day because I don't seem to have enough memory to accommodate the load and things get painfully slow when I run both Word/Excel and get online. So I just use one at a time (no techie, here).

I think your solution about right-clicking on the DeskTop will work fine for my needs, Charles. Thank you.

I start Word first thing in the morning and type a single space in the blank document, keeping it open all day even as I open and close other documents. I don't quit Word till I shut down at night.
