Hello,

I am using the Paste Special --> Paste Link  --> Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object and I would like to make sure that the paste result has the highest image quality. Is there anyway to check if the image resulting from the paste special operation is Enhanced Metafile?

Thanks in advance,

Alexandra Almeida

By default, smaller selections paste at 100%, which gives the best display. Other than that, there are no options to increase visual quality. Links use OLE and OLE has always displayed poorly, especially when resized.

When you paste-link an Excel object, PPT internally stores a link to the Excel object AND a metafile representation of the object.  Used to be you could simply ungroup pasted/paste-linked charts to break the connection to the original XL object and leave just the metafile representation behind.  That's been broken for several versions, so instead, you can copy the XL object, then paste-special, as EMF to get an EMF representation of it if you like.

As you can see in your screenshot, the format is not Enhanced Metafile, it is Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object. If you're pasting links, that's all that's available. To get EMF format, your would have to embed the file by choosing the default Paste option.

Thank you for your answer, John.

When  I paste a link as a link to the worksheet object it does not paste an object with a link, it is more like a linked picture of the object. What I was trying to figure out is if we can set the quality of the image that we are seeing.
