Microsoft Forms - Likert Limit

Hi!

I am creating a 25 question survey and decided to use likert. I was able to complete it 4 options and 2 Statements. But when I tried adding 3 more Statements (total of 5 Statements), it does not allow me to Add New after question 20. I understand that using Likert has a limit of 100 question and each Option is considered 1 question, however, it does not say any limit on adding Statements.

I was able to continue up to question 28 (Highlighted) using a 3 Statement by 4 Options.

But when I try using 4 Statement by 4 Options, I only got to question 20 and the Add New button is no longer clickable

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Jay,

We appreciate that you posted back and shared the detailed information with us. We also appreciate that you spent your precious time doing those tests.

Per your description, it seems that you have tried different browsers, new survey and different devices, however, the same problem still persists. At the same time, we noticed that you mentioned that you created a Likert survey with 25 questions by 4 options by 4 Statements.

We have also tested it again, we created 20 Likert questions by 4 Options and 4 Statements. Then we also found that Add new option is greyed out, as shown below:

We can reproduce the same situation as yours.

This because that the Likert question itself has been calculated as a question, and every statement has been calculated as a question, so if you create 20 questions by 4 Options by 4 Statements. All Likert questions with 4 Statements will be calculated as 100 questions. That may why you cannot create new question.

We understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it. To address your concern, we’d suggest you vote this UserVoice:  For the Likert question type, each option counts as a single question. This is the best platform to let us hear from you and make our products and services better for you and others.

For a workaround, you can create 25 Likert questions with 3 statements, then you can add fourth statement for each question. And Add statement will not become greyed. As shown below:

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Sukie

    Hi Sukie,

Thank you for your response. Your understanding is correct.

I forgot to mention that I am using MS Forms only (not Pro).

I also tried the following, and obtained the same results:

    1. using a different browser (from Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
    2. creating a new survey form
    3. doing it in an existing survey form
    4. using a different computer
    5. asked a colleague to try it in her end

As shown above, the Add new button is no longer clickable after question 20 by 4 options by 4 statements. Again, my goal is to create a Likert survey with 25 Questions by 4 Options by 4 Statements.

    Best regards,

    Jay

    Hi Jay,

Thank you for your message in this forum.

According to your description, it seems that you have created a 25 questions in your form, then you found that you cannot add 3 more Statements in Likert question after question 20. And you can using 3 statements and 4 Options, however, you found that you cannot add 4 statement by 4 options.

May I know if my understanding is right? If so, we have tested it on our side and we created 20 questions, then we created 21 Likert question with 4 statements by 4 options, as shown below:

May I know if my understanding is right? If so, it seems that we cannot reproduce the same situation as yours.

Given this situation, we understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it. We’d suggest you try another browser to check if the same problem will occur.

At the same time, to narrow down this issue, could you provide the information below?

    1. May I know if all forms have the same problem? You can create a new form to check if the same problem will occur.
    2. Do the other colleagues have the same problem?
    3. May I know how many Likert questions you have created in this survey?

    Best Regards,

    Sukie
