I ended explore.exe process on resource monitor and my taskbar disappeared and my screen went white but my cursor was still visible. Is there anyway to stop this next time?

I disabled it because i needed to rename a file and it said that The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program. i saw it could be so something to do with explore.exe and it appears to be so i pressed end process and immediately my taskbar disappeared and my desktop turned white.

    Hi @Harley ,

the explorer.exe is the process that is responsible for "displaying" the desktop/taskbar/startmenu and file browsing ;-)

If you kill the explorer.exe the desktop is "gone" ;-)

Open the Taskmanager and start a new explorer.exe process and you will get back your desktop.

    Which OS are you running?
