The PowerPoint presentations I have made this week are only playing a gif for  4 seconds then the gif will stop. Normally the gif will play continuously. Is there a setting I need to change to have the gif play continuously?

Hi Alienslayer, hope you're doing well. I’m Ian, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. I’m happy to help answer your questions.

I'm sorry to hear about this issue.

If your GIF does not loop or animate endlessly then this might be because the internal setting of the GIF is only set to a limited number of animations.

Also there's a recommended way to insert a GIF instead of doing copy and paste.

    Thanks Emerson.

I believe there may have been a problem with the PowerPoint on my PC. The Gifs loop fine when I play the presentation through my laptop, but not on the PC.

    Hello!

I am Emerson. Thanks for participating Microsoft community. I am an Independent Advisor.

If your GIF does not loop or animate endlessly (i.e. it only loops once or a limited amount of times), then this might be because the internal setting of the GIF is only set to a limited number of animations ( https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/fo... ). You will have to modify the GIF to change how many times the GIF loops. Microsoft recommends the online editor called https://ezgif.com/ . Detailed instructions are https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-... .

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

    Regards,

    Emerson

Hi. Thanks for your suggestions. I have not had any trouble in the past with gifs on continual loop. I though it might be because I was starting to use gifs from Google search rather than Giphy. But the same problems seems to happen with both Google search and Giphy.  It must be a setting in PowerPoint as Gifs from previous lessons I have made now have the same problem whereas they didn't before.

    Kind Regards,
