Hello,

Since we are now working from home, many of us are on personal devices , we cant download certain files to our PCs due to confidentiality, and have to use Excel Online

There is a file that uses pivot tables to allow various employees to click their names in the sheet and see what tasks need to be done based off the report.

The report works fine in a native Excel app on a PC, however whenever you try to open the file online, some options for the pivot table fields pop up but then immediately after there is a message that states "Cannot Change Cells in a Pivot Table Report".

on occasion you can click a name in the sheet, and it will show you a details box to select which details you wish to display, however you can only select one at a time out of multiple details to show.

we are using the latest version of excel...

    Hi Richard L.S.,

May I confirm with you whether the message pops up when you tend to change the cells of Pivot Table in Excel for the web?

If you would like to change the date in Pivot table on Excel for the web application. You may need to change from the data source. After that you can go to Pivot Table tab > Refresh data.  Then you modified cells will be updated.

    Best regards,

    Dihao

    Hello,

    Thanks for the reply.

No one is actually trying to CHANGE the data. People are trying to view it, and it gives this error.

When you open the file in excel online, you cant  click on anything in the file unless you select to EDIT AND REPLY.

THen when you try to view the data, that error pops up. For example in regular outlook when you open the file and select the COUNT OF MEMBER ID it will show you further information, like below. (sorry the detils contain PI, co i cant show it all)

however when they try to view online they just get the filed table that opens, and then the error
