Hello,

When I open excel, I get the "Microsoft Visual Basic" error. This occurs when I open any document or even when I open the program and start a new document. I click the "OK" button three times and the error disappears and the program seems to work fine after this.

How can I clear this message?

Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6

Excel for Mac Version 15.27

Thanks for your help.

You are years behind on updates.

Download a copy of the current version of AutoUpdate from this link, install and then run AutoUpdate to bring your installation to current update level, then restart your Mac. If the updater does not open automatically after download, double-click the downloaded .pkg file. Click this link to download the updater. The update is free.

    Dear Ryman10,

I'd like to confirm whether the version number of the Excel for Mac application is 15.27 or 16.37. If you are using 15.27, I suggest you first update the version number to 16.37, restart the Mac and then do a test to see the result.

Meanwhile, I suggest you back up all your Office files, try the following, restart the Mac and then do a test to see the result.

    1. Close all Office for Mac applications.
    2. Search for and open Keychain.
    3. In the search field, enter adal.
    4. Select all items whose type is MicrosoftOffice15_2_Data:ADAL:<GUID>, and then press Delete.
    5. In the search field, enter office.
    6. Select the items that are named Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2, and then press Delete.

(Please note that the two Office credential caches must be hidden. To unhide the 2 caches, click on "show visible items" in the "Keychain" menu top bar (keychain -> view -> "show visible items") Once the hidden items are visible, search for "Office" and you will see below 2 items listed.)

    1. Quit Keychain Access.
    2. Navigate to <YourUserName>Library > Group Containers.
    3. Find the folders below and move them to Trash.

    UBF8T346G9.ms

    UBF8T346G9.Office

    UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost

Warning: Outlook data will be removed when you move the three folders listed in this step to Trash. You should back up these folders before you delete them.

    1. Restart the Mac.
    2. Open the Excel for Mac application to see the result.

    Best Regards,

    Cliff

    Hi Cliff,

I'm reading your response with interest.

I'm backing up those files... could these damage current work / emails...

There's a lot of data in there?
