    Hi

Mac OS is blocking you. Your link has to be within the Documents folder or the special hidden folder Apple allows for this purpose.

You can try telling Mac OS to allow Excel to have full disk access in System Preferences. Also, you may need to set folder permissions, as well. That might let you keep your linked file location where it is.

    Hi martincorness,

Thank you for querying in this forum.

According to your description, it seems that you cannot open a hyperlink in Excel for Mac and encountered an error message.

If so, generally, this warning will appear when you include a hyperlink to an EXE or other type of file that could be harmful to your system, however, we can click continue to open it.

Given the situation you encountered, we have tested it on our side with the latest version of Excel 16.40, and we just added a hyperlink to a file stored on Mac and we can open it without any problem.

So we’d suggest you check if you have the latest version of Excel 16.40, if not, you can update your Excel to the latest version to check if the same problem will occur.

To better understand your situation and narrow down this issue, could you provide the information below?

    1. May I know if all hyperlinks have the same problem? You can add a new hyperlink to check if the same problem will occur.
    2. May I know if all Excel files have the same problem? You can create a new file to check if the same problem will occur.
    3. Could you provide detailed steps how you added hyperlink and which type of file you linked?
    4. Could you provide the version of your Excel? You can go to Excel client > About Excel and provide the screenshot of it.

    Best Regards,

    Sukie
