Text Alignment Problem

Hello, I have problems when trying to align text, when I want to align a title to the center, both the title and the rest of the text will align to the center, and when I try to reaccomodate the text to the left, the title will also move to the left!

I have the same issue for every single new Document I work on, and I don't how to solve it. I have tried almost everything I could find on the web.

  • I already put "ActiveDocument.Styles(wdStyleNormal).AutomaticallyUpdate = False" in the VBA interface, saved it, even restarted the program and it will still do the same. Checked different settings on Styles, Design, Layout, etc. and nothing seems to work, AT ALL.

Please help me out here, I really need to fix this to do my school hm and I can't keep putting off the turn-in date.

*EDIT*: Guys, I literally just turned on the PC to check if someone had answered me, and the second I open Word to check on that, I wrote a title, with a certain style, then blank spaced, wrote a paragraph, and when I aligned the paragraph to the left, the problem wasn't there anymore. So I'm sorry for those who wasted time on this, and I still appreciate the info you gave!

Auto updating of linked styles is one possible cause of this problem.

Another is that you are dealing with a single paragraph.

Turn on the Show/Hide feature to display the non printing characters. Make sure that each paragraph ends in the "pilcrow" (backwards P) character instead of the broken arrow of a soft return

    Hi FuzzyDark,

I'm Jen , an Independent Support Expert and a Microsoft Consumer like you, thank you for reaching out.

Turn on the Show/Hide feature so you can see non printing characters.

Each line that has to have different alignment has to be a separate paragraph <ENTER>

If you still have the problem please create a small example file. Force text into rough desired alignment using spaces and tabs. Include descriptive text explaining what you want.

Let me know if this works.
