    Hi Gary,

Thanks for trusting us and posting in this community, I’m glad to offer help.

To export the member list form SharePoint online to Excel, you can follow steps below:

    1.    Go to site settings > People and Groups (https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/sitename/\_layouts/15/people.aspx) > open the group you want to export > copy the current URL: https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/sitename/\_layouts/15/people.aspx?MembershipGroupId=**X**, note the ID number at the end of the URL.

    2.    Open Excel > Data > Get Data > From Other Sources > From OData Feed

    3.    Paste the URL in the prompt and delete the content after the “sitename” and replace with the following content:

    /_api/Web/SiteGroups/GetByID(X)/Users

And replacing “X” with the group ID you just remembered

    4.    Get the data and you can choose to delete the useless columns (you may be required to sign in with the corresponding account before this)

Hope the above method can help you, please feel free to let me know the result.

    Best Regards,

    Arck

Thanks.  I did try this with no success but will try again.  It just seems like there should be an easier way.  I’ve been using the MS Office apps for a couple of years and find my self gravitating to other apps such as Slack for their simplicity.  MS has a strong product line but not an intuitive one.

    Hi Gary,

Sorry for the late response due to out of office.

If you can’t see the “People and Groups” option, you can use the following URL to locate it:

    https://tenant_name.sharepoint.com/sites/site_name/_layouts/15/people.aspx

As for your concerns, I can understand that SharePoint online does have a lot to improve, I recommend you post an idea in UserVoice, it is the best the way the let the relevant team hear your needs, anyone’s suggestion could have a chance to be adopted by Microsoft, we appreciate your understanding and valuable suggestions.
