Just today, I encountered this problem. I searched Google, found results but nothing worked. So far, here's what I've done:

  1. Updated necessary Windows update
  2. Quick repair
  3. Online repair
  4. Uninstalled completely and re-installed Office
  5. Downloaded and installed Offline version
  6. Did sfc/ scannow in cmd

Please let me now what I'm missing or have done wrong. I never had this problem with Office before until today. :(

    Hi armivaldez

Many users are experiencing the exact same thing, it appears to be caused by an emerging bug in the latest Windows 10 update, for now there is no word coming from Microsoft regarding this or a fix

What I would suggest is to try to uninstall the last Windows 10 update, to see if that works for you . . .

    Hello there!

    You can try this:

    1. open run  (Windows key + r)
    2. type regedit
    3. navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Option
    4. delete the folders of the apps that don`t work, for example, if you facing issue with WINWORD.exe, you should delete folder with the same name
