Onenote table text alignment in Android

I sometimes find that when I add an item in a table in Onenote on my phone the text on one of the lines will align itself to the right. I can't see any formatting option that will make it do that or to reverse it with. It's as if there was an invisible formatting option that aligns text, that I must have accidentally triggered. I can't find any trace of any option for it. But it does happen. and it's a nuisance. I have to go to my PC and change the alignment on the full version of Onenote. And it does change in the full version, which is evidence that it had changed in the Android version.

Where is it on Android Oneneote. How do i find it?

Hi Terry,

Sorry for the late response due to OOF, my last reply is to explain to you that there is no “visible” option to change the alignment in OneNote for mobile at present, the alignment on the phone version follows the settings on the desktop version.

If you mean the alignment on your Android version changed automatically after you have set it on the desktop version, that could be a strange issue. If the table is copied from Word, Excel or other apps/webpages, you can try to create a new table within the desktop version of OneNote and copy the content to the new table, make sure all the alignment is set to correct, then you can go to you phone to check if the alignment will be set correctly.

I'm sorry I didn't explain it very clearly in my last reply, if you have any concerns about the above information, please feel free to give me feedback.

Best Regards,

Arck

Your response, indirectly, enabled me to solve the issue. I'll leave the answer here for anyone else having this problem.

Office ( for PC) has always had an annoying feature that blank space can contain hidden formatting ( other than both the normal template or the preceding text) that unexpectedly formats text when you type into that space. When I did IT support for my office, years ago, this was one of the commonest problems. An admin typing text into a space (usually a form or templated document) and finding also sorts of random formatting appear as if by magic.

In this case the Onenote table I was using seems to have picked up formatting when it synchronised between the Android and desktop copy. The solution was to change the formatting in the (otherwise blank) location on the PC copy. Then let it synch.

You did not read my post.

Somehow the alignment in the Android version does change. Not by any deliberate act. But on some lines in the table the text I'm entering aligns right.

And I have to go into the desktop version to change it back.

How is it happening and how can I stop or reverse this?

    Hi Terry,

Thanks for posting in the community, according to your description, I’ve tested on my side, I’m afraid I have to tell you that currently the formatting options for tables in text in OneNote for mobile are not as many as on the desktop version.

I’m sorry for the inconvenience, you can post an idea in UserVoice, it is the best way to let the related team know your needs, and anyone’s suggestion could have a chance to be adopted by Microsoft, your understanding will be highly appreciated!

    Best Regards,

    Arck
