IMAP Migration

Hi

We are trying to migrate mailboxes from our mailenable server to 365 Exchange using the migration tool, however we are finding that the IMAP folder structure is not replicated. It will not migrate the sub folders or sub sub folders.

Anyone have a work around?

Cheers

    Hi Glenn Lynch (Glenn.Lynch),

Thanks for your post. Regarding your question, I did a lot of research and learned that when migrating from IMAP to exchange, it is not supported to carry over contacts, subfolders or calendars.

Also, folders with a forward slash ( / ) in the folder name aren't migrated. If users want to migrate folders that contain forward slashes in their names, they have to rename the folders or replace the forward slashes with a different character, such as an underscore character ( _ ) or a dash ( - ).

For your reference: Tips for optimizing IMAP migrations.

Given this situation, if there are many subfolders under user's account, you are recommended to recover from the source mailbox and manually export and import it to o365. You can share below articles with your users for their reference:

If there is anything unclear or you have any further concerns, please feel free to contact us, I'll glad to continue to help you.

    Best regards,

    Jennifer
