Cannot add Tables to Existing Queries in Access, grey sidebar opens right with no tables listed.

We have the current version of Office 365 Business Standard with Windows 10 Pro, our database expert is stumped so I thought I would try the community. Recently when trying to add a table by starting a query design or using the add tables button or right clicking the top table area and choosing show tables the normal white box to add tables does not show up, instead there is a grey side bar that pops out on the right hand side that says add tables, and yet my tables are not shown there. I can add tables through the query wizard, but not after I create. All other data and existing queries access the data and work properly. My tables, forms, queries and such are visible on the left object pane. This problem only exist on my computer and all access databases on my computer (even the archives), all other office computers function properly. We have tried logging off and back in as a different user, also uninstalling and reinstalling office 365.

Others will see it too *if* they are on the same version of Office *and* on the same Channel. For example an installation of A2016 or A2019 will never see it. An installation of A365 Semi-Annual channel will see it in several months, and A365 Monthly channel has it now, and A365 Insider Edition had it a few months ago.

The separation between a Tables tab and a Linked Tables tab was a MSFT design decision.

There is an All tab, with all tables and queries together.

    Hi Amber,

Sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused.

To troubleshoot the issue you encountered, you can try the following suggestions:

    1. Update Office to the latest version. With Office updated, some issues would get resolved. So it’s a good idea to keep Office up to date.

Open Excel in safe mode to exclude the issue is related to some third-party add-ins. Then check the result.

    3. Perform Office Online Repair to fix the problem.

If the issue persists, we would like to collect some information to further check it:

    1. Which version of Office do you have? After starting Access, click on File > Account, please take a screenshot of the Product Information part and share it with us.
    2. Do you encounter any similar problems when using other Office apps?

    Best regards,

    Madoc

You can also drag from the left panel (Navigation Pane).

Are those linked tables properly linked to their BE?

On second thought: the linked tables are under the Links tab of the Add Tables pane.
