Missing "Open in Excel" button

I have a personal subscription to Microsoft 365, having used it at work.  However, on my personal account, I cannot seem to open my documents in the desktop apps; I only have the option to open online.  For example, there is no option to open a document in Excel directly from the Onedrive screen, and when you open the document in Excel online, there is no "open in Excel" button visible.  Is there a setting I need to change?

    Hi Jomel

    This issue appears to have rectified itself!  I tried both Internet Explorer and Edge about a week after your message, and again just now, (sorry for delay) and now the 'open in app' feature now appears to be there.  I can only assume there was an update which resolved it as I have not changed any settings myself.

    Anyway, thanks for your time and help.  Hopefully things are ok now!

    Hi Jomel

    Thanks for getting back to me. In answer to your questions:

    1. Yes, that is how i have been working - downloading the excel doc, working on it, then uploading it again to the folder.
    2. I have been using microsoft edge, but not tried another browser as yet. I can try to do this later. 
    3. Yes, i think it is the same for all documents.

    To better assist you with this, we would like to gather more information. Please answer the questions below:

    • Have you tried downloading the workbook locally and open it using the Excel application?
    • Have you tried using a different web browser? If not, please do so and check if the problem persists.
    • Does the issue occur to all your saved workbooks in OneDrive?
