OneNote Comments

Hi,

Today I was searching for a way to add comments to text in OneNote. Many people seem to agree with me that this is a basic feature inexplicably absent from ON (as is text justification...even this simple comment box offers that!...but that's another battle for another time rooted in Microsoft not wanting to steal glory from Word I suppose). Aside from paid solutions like GEM I haven't seen a really simple, effective answer.

Then I had the idea to modify tags so that when hovered over they show the text of my comment. It works great for me! Admittedly, this won't allow lengthy comments, but in my case I'm only using them for to-do-style date reminders since I don't have desktop Outlook with it's reminder integrations.

I hope this (after-the-fact obvious) solution helps some of you. Good day to all.

    Hello Kelsey,

Welcome to Microsoft Community, and thank you for reaching out!

Adding comments within to your notes help us highlight and keeps us reminded of the important contents within the file. Features and functionality may vary depending on the Office applications you’re using. The Add comments option in OneNote, the same feature that’s present in Word, would be a great feature and we appreciate you for bringing this to our attention.

Microsoft continuously strives to improve its products and to provide a better experience to its consumers. At this point, we would like to have our engineers be aware of the said concern. I would recommend posting your concern on our OneNote UserVoice.

Through this, our support engineers will be able to collate data and supporting details regarding this and might consider adding the feature as a good ground for future updates.  I have found an **entry**that's similar to your concern, but you may still consider creating a new one. Thousands of other users can upvote it to increase the priority for our engineers to add it.

If you need more advice from us, you can get back to us by replying to this thread or create a new thread using this link if you have a different concern.
