How to create different headers within a document

Hi,

I wonder how to create different headers for each section (after making a section break) in a Word document, but the footer is still continuing the page numbering.

I need at least 3 different headers, but want to keep the same footer.

Double-click in the header of a page in section 2.

This will activate the Design tab of the ribbon, under Header & Footer Tools.

Click to unhighlight 'Link to Previous' in the Navigation group.

Do the same for section 3 (and following).

You can now specify a different header for each section.

This will not affect the footer - by default, the footers of section 2 and following will still be linked to the previous section.

    Hi

Headers and footers are simple in simple documents. They can get very complicated. What you want to do might be done using the StlyieRef field.

Keep in mind that each section in Word will have three sections and three footers, whether you see them or not. A single page can have multiple sections.

    • First-Page Header & Footer
    • Odd-Page Header & Footer
    • Even-Page Header & Footer

These are six separate parts, each with its own content.

Here is my recap of how the settings work:

Do you mean that you want to get rid of the entire section 3? If so:

    • Copy the header of section 3.
    • Paste it over the header of section 2, replacing it (you can also clear the header of section 2 before pasting)
    • This may result in a superfluous empty paragraph; you should delete this.
    • You can now safely delete the contents of the 3rd section, including the section break at the start of it.

    Thank you.

I also have a followed question.

If I have 3 different headers and I want to delete the whole content from the header 3. What shall I do to just keep header 1 under section 1 and header 2 under section 2?

    /Rebecca
