Word not saving equations

Hi! So while I was doing homework on word I saved it and when I opened it again to revise it most of the numbers were gone and the equations got messed up. The only way I could save it without it erasing all the numbers and equation fraction was on PDF. Im supposed to submit my papers on word tho, any advice?

I got a new computer (MacBook Air) and I don't know if that has to do with it? I never had this problem on my windows computers.

    Hi Jim,

Sometimes you cannot find the Container folder directly. You could use Go from the menu to open it.

    Regards,

    George

    Hi George,

I guess I am confused because there is no folder called Containers in the Library folder.

    Hi Jim,

I gave the suggestion "Remove the cache to reset Word" to reset the preferences in Word. Also, I gave the steps about removing the cache folder after it. If there is anything wrong or mistake in my suggestion, please point out, I would love to know.

    Regards,

    George

    Hi CRUZ,

Thanks for posting in the community.

Normally, Word in Mac could save equations with no issue.

Since you have mentioned it works well in Windows, the issue is likely caused by local environment in Mac, you could try the suggestions:

    1. Update your Office
    2. Remove the cache to reset Word

Go to your user library, open Containers, remove com.microsoft.word(The folder is hidden, for you path: ~/Library/Group Containers/)

If the issue still exits, please provide us more information to narrow the issue.

    1. Your Mac system version and Office version

System version: click the Apple Menu and click About this Mac

Office version: click Word and click About Word

    1. Did the issue happen once or always exist? You could create a new document to test.
    2. May I know what kind of equation do you insert? How do you inset?
    3. Could you open the problematic document in Word for Web and check?

In the meanwhile, since the content has been changed/lost, we suggest you use the AutoSave feature and save documents online. The documents stored in OneDrive/SharePoint could use Version History to prevent this kind of issue happens again.

    Regards,

    George
