I am creating a chart in PowerPoint using data in Excel. For some reason, the chart is displaying incorrectly, please see the image below.

You can see that the Revenue column is showing the highest figures, but when converted into the chart, it's showing at the bottom of the 4 lines.

Also, you can see that the values on the Y axis are not correctly matching up with the other 3 columns.

The line chart which is there in ppt is Stacked line chart which means one on top of another i.e. cumulative. You are supposed to make normal line chart not stacked one.

Right click on your chart in Powerpoint - Change chart type - Select first line chart

Once you do this, this would become normal.

Using this, I have changed your PPT charts and uploaded in the same folder which you have shared with me.

    File name - earnings_VA.pptx

    Hello!

I am Emerson. Thanks for participating Microsoft community. I am an Independent Advisor.

It seems that correct data were displaying. But for me, you are using not coherent graph. It might not understandable if you use line graph. For financial graphs, it is more suited to use the bar graph or the stacked bar graph.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

    Regards,

    Emerson

Thanks for the answer, but that's not helping - why is the data showing incorrectly?

    Hello AntPugh

I am V. Arya, Independent Advisor, to work with you on this issue. I need to have a look on your workbook which should have graph as well to analyze the cause as I am not able to replicate this in my testing.

May I request you to post the file with dummy data (no production / real data) to Onedrive or any other cloud sharing site and post the link here? If you need help about how to do - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/share-...
