Excel file closes immediately/crashes when opened from SharePoint folder using "open in excel" option.

Same file can be viewed online without issues.

The issue is resolved when I create a copy of the same file. The new file does not have this issue, but I can't keep creating newer versions as there are connections to Power BI.

The issue is not reproduced by other users for the same file.

    Hi Abhijeet,

Thanks for posting in the community, I’m glad to offer help.

Since the same file can be opened by other users, it is possible that Excel has some problem opening files through browser.

You can try to log in the corresponding account in Excel and then open the file within Excel.

Or you can sync the SharePoint file document library to your local File Explorer and then open the file in File Explorer. (It requires you to install OneDrive desktop application)

These two ways are the same as opening through Excel online, the files will keep in sync.

Hope the above suggestions can be helpful, please feel free to let us know the results.

    Best Regards,

    Arck

Did you ever figure out what was causing this.  I presume the answer given didn't work for you since the same thing is happening to me on one file from that synced folder but only on my laptop and not my desktop.  Any help would be great!!

    Thanks!
