Modern Page Edit Error

Question

Working on SharePoint Online with a Modern page. Attempting to make any edits and save it as either a Draft or Publish results in this error:

Could not save your changes

Error due to Exceed max number of tries. at Error: Exceed max number of tries. at s (https://spoprod-a.akamaihd.net/files/sp-client/chunk.sp-pages-service\_9d7381a681dae2cbeb62.js:1:580) at https://spoprod-a.akamaihd.net/files/sp-client/chunk.sp-pages-service\_9d7381a681dae2cbeb62.js:1:643}

I during troubleshooting attempted restoring an older version which did not resolve the issue. Also the only way I can publish is through Site Content viewing the file and using the ellipsis to publish, but that is useless at this time as i cannot even save it as a draft to do that. Before I restored an older version I wasn't even able to edit the page, it would just give a generic error saying contact admin if continues.

The only somewhat similar issue I have found are here, but there inst any answer beyond its on Microsoft's side and it will be fixed later, but this post was back in 2017.

I have also gone through each element on the page and there is nothing special, here is a list of what is there:

• 7x Image with Link
• 5x Rich Text Field
• 2x Document Viewer (3 Pages, PDF)
• 1x Document Viewer (1 Page, PDF)
• 1x Quick Links (28 Links, All using Icons)
• 1x YouTube Video
• 1x Link

I work with Bahalzamon and though we are unsure the cause of the issue, I restored the last version and everything is working fine now.

Sorry for the trouble caused at your end.

Per your description, we understand that you’re not able to either save the changes made to the modern page as a draft or can’t publish and restoring it to the previous have the same problem. We tested at our end on our test tenants and we can’t reproduce the problem at our end, so to narrow down the problem please provide the below information:

a. Does this problem happen to specific page or all the pages in the sites?

b. Can you try to create a new page in the problematic site and check the behavior?

c. Can you contact other users in the organization to check whether they have similar behavior?

d. Please provide the information requested in the private message.
