Adding Content to OneNote Classroom

In the past, I had each student create a OneNote notebook and then share it with me. I am told in OneNote classroom this won't be necessary. When students wanted to upload their work from paper they would take a picture with office lense then upload it directly into their homework section of One Note. Can they still do this?

    Hi Rick,

If you want to use Class notebook, please notice that you need a school account provided by your school to use it.

    Hi Rick,

Thanks for your patience. As for your concern, actually you can add the students to this class notebook and let them upload their work to the class notebook, to add a student in class notebook, please refer this article: Add students to a Class Notebook in OneNote

If you are unable to add students, please notice every student need a Microsoft 365 account at your school before you can add them.

More information: Unable to add students / groups to Class Notebook

May I confirm do the new students are external users of your organization(with different tenants)? Where did you add the students?(OneNote online or Teams?)

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Best regards,

    Gloria

Hi Gloria, In the past, my students would create a Microsoft account and then use OneNote. They would share it with me and I would share my OneNote with them. I want to continue using OneNote however I want to use Class Notebook. How can I use it as my school uses Google so we don't have a Microsoft agreement with your organization

I am very confused, I cannot for the life of me, find the tabs create Class Notebooks using teams. I saw it on the Educational video posted by Microsoft. I can create a class notebook using OneNote. My confusion arises when I try and enter names. I have used OneNote in the past with my students but not the class notebook feature that you are offering. Each student had their own OneNote notebook and they shared it with me and I shared my notebook with them.  The class notebook is very different. When I try and add students my past student names appear no problem; however, when I try and add new names say my new students this year I can't add them. Please HELP

    Thank you

    Hi Rick,

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft.

May I confirm do you mean let the students upload their work to class notebook in Teams? If so, as we all know OneNote class notebook has three-types of sub-notebooks, including Student Notebooks, Content Library and Collaboration Space. Please check this article for more information:

Getting Started with the OneNote Class Notebook: A Walkthrough for Teachers

As for your requirement, I think the students themselves can upload their work in their notebooks via clicking Insert>File> Insert as Attachment, and only teachers and students themselves can see their own work, not for all students.

In addition, I think you can also try to create an assignment in Teams to let them upload their files to you. Please go to your class team> click Assignments tab> Create> Assignment> follow the steps> click Assign> then the students can upload their work to you.

For more details, please refer: Create an assignment in Microsoft Teams

If this is not what you mean, please point out and we will further investigate it.

We are glad to help, you can post back at your convenience.

    Best regards,

    Gloria
