Export to Excel from SharePoint not working on MAC?

Although it used to work fine, I'm now not able to use the 'export to excel' function from SharePoint on my mac.  It is giving an 'iqy' file and not giving me the option to choose 'excel' as the application to open with (it is greyed out).  Is it due to an upgrade?  I'm using Catalina 10.15.6

thanks

    Hi,

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft.

Based on your description, there is no option to export an iqy file to Excel from SharePoint Online on Mac.

If so, if you want to use open a .iqy file in Excel for Mac, please go to the Data menu and choose Get External Data > Run Web Query to check the result.

If this is not what you mean, please point out.

To better understand your scenario, we would like to confirm some information:

1.The screenshot about your scenario(no option to choose 'excel' as the application to open with which is greyed out).

2.Does the issue happen on all files or a specific one?

    1. What’s your Excel version? Please go to Excel> click “About Excel” and capture the screenshot of it.

    Best regards,

    Gloria

    Hi,

Thanks for letting us know your exact concern is to export the file to Excel via SharePoint in Teams. So we have test it again multiple times, when we click Export to Excel in SharePoint list, then go to Excel application> click Data> Get External Data > Run Web Query> there is no data could be exported.

Given previously it works at your end, and now we can also reproduce the same behaviors as yours, we think it might be a bug with SharePoint using the feature of Export to Excel. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Hence, we appreciate your effort to share this experience with us and we sincerely recommend you share this to Excel Feedback via opening Excel> click File> Feedback> I Like Something, this is the best and most efficient way to let the related team aware this, and we will also help let the team notice this. Thanks again for your time and letting us this vital thing, this is really beneficial and help improve our product.

Have a nice day and stay safe!😊

    Best regards,

    Gloria
