How i can change the source program of my embed object?

"To change an embedded object, double-click the object to open and edit it in the source program. The source program (or another program capable of editing the object) must be installed on your computer. "

I have another program capable of editing the object, but don't have the source program, when i double click to edit the embed object,  it shows error "Cannot start the source application for this object".

How can i change the link of the source program?

Found this https://documentation.help/MS-Office-Excel-2003/cohowEditAnEmbeddedObject2.htm , but my excel 2016 don't have Edit menu.

This has nothing to do with your question.

That is not an issue with Excel, you have to install an application on your system which can open the object.

    Technical detail:

Let us assume that you have a PDF embedded object.

If you open that object, Excel copies the binary file on your local hard disk and calls the system to open the file (more deeper technical: Excel executes a  OLEObject-Verb)

If you don't have a PDF application installed the Verb fails.
