Disable Sorting for Excel online (SharePoint)

Hello

My business is using excel online in conjunction with Forms. Our Excel workbooks are saved on SharePoint sites and entries are made to the worksheets by means of online Forms which are submitted by our staff in the field. A number of users in our office need to have access to and be able to edit the worksheets at the same time and I do not want them to have to open the workbook on the excel desktop app. This all works very well. However, I need to be able to prevent users from sorting the data in the worksheets using the sort function. When I open the workbook in the desktop app I can do this by protecting the workbook and unchecking the 'sort' option in the list of allowed activities and allowing a group ('Everyone') to edit all cells by using the allow users to edit ranges function. This has the effect I am looking for while the workbook is open in the desktop app but when the workbook is saved and opened through SharePoint no cells can be edited (ie, the 'allow users [group = everyone] to edit ranges' settings I applied in the desktop app are not taking effect).

Can anyone help me with this please? Put simply, I want to be able to disable the sort function for excel online opened via SharePoint without affecting the ability of users to edit online

Thank you

Thank you for your reply. But, having read the thread you referred to, it does not answer my question. I am not having a problem with people opening the spreadsheets offline.

What I am trying to achieve it to prevent users from applying 'sort' to the spreadsheets.
