Replace function in excel opening file dialog box.

I have a copied sheet in my workbook from another page and I need to change all the formulas with a common text replacement. All the formulas from the original page have "MDC" and I need to change it to "CLM". I am using the find/replace command, but when I click replace, it opens a file box and wants me to select the file and does that on every single cell in the new page. See pics. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Okplayer,

I am John, an Independent Advisor and Microsoft user like you. I'm here to work with you on this issue.

Can you try to close all the Excel files first then try it again. If it didn't work, try to move the MDN BACKUP Excel file to different folder and see if it works.

I hope it helps you. If not, please reply to this forum of what happened.

    Regards,
    John

I want to give just a bit more information and Im not sure it is related but when I first open the workbook, I get this message, and there should be no other workbooks linked to this one. I hit update to see what happens and the second pic pops up and there are no changes in the workbook data.

    Hi Okplayer,

Sorry for the delay and thank you for the screenshot you have provided, it really helped me to understand your issue better. Basically, when you copy a data from a file and paste it to another file, it creates a link between the two files. This link will be updated every time you make any changes to the original file.

I just want to know if "CLM" sheet contains data already? And what are the sheet names included on your new workbook, does it have a "MAIN" sheet?

Your response will help me to find a solution to your issue.

    Regards,

    John

Below are the 3 pages Im working with, Main/MDC/Claiming, the picture at the bottom. 2nd from the bottom is a pick of the main page and the data contained in the main sheet. the 3rd pic is a screenshot of the MDC page with an example of the formulas with the "MDC" in them. The last page just under this text is a pic of the clm page where Im trying to find and change all the "MDC" to "CLM".
