    Hi Najwa,

Thanks for posting in the community, I’m glad to offer help.

According to your description, I’d like to explain that change the column order in list view setting will not affect the column order for the item.

To change the column order for the item, please follow the steps below:

    1. Go to List settings > Advanced settings > turn on “Allow management of content types?” > save the changes

    1. Go back to List settings > select “Item” content type (or your custom content type) > Column order > modify the order and save the changes.

    1. The column order of the existing items and be item will be changed, if you don’t want to show the “Content Type” field, you can go to step 1 and turn off “Allow management of content types?”, the column order will still take effect.

Hope the above method can help you, please feel free to let me the results.

    Best Regards,

    Arck

A simpler explanation is that you are adjusting the order that columns appear in a view, not in the "form" pages associated with an item. List views are independent of item views, and I guess Msft couldn't figure out a way to combine the order function in a more intuitive way.
