Having trouble with adding editable text boxes in PowerPoint

Hello,

I've been trying to add in editable text boxes to a presentation in PowerPoint using the developer tools, but when I add a single text box it shows up as two during the live presentation with the actual editable one super-imposed above the text box I want (see attached screenshot).

How do I go about fixing this issue? Do I need to change something under text box properties?

Thanks very much,

Sarah S

Please choose File>Options>Advanced, scroll down to the Display section and check the box beside Disable Slide Show hardware graphics acceleration.

    Hi John,

Thanks for the tip, but it did not seem to solve my problem. Do you have any other suggestions?

    Best,

    Sarah

    Hi Sarah,

    Thanks for your posting here.

According to your description, we did a test from our side with PowerPoint version 2004 but unfortunately, we can't reproduce your issue.

Here are some suggestions you can try to check the result.

    1. Please update your Office to the latest version via File>Account>Check for update.
    2. Please run PowerPoint in safe mode via pressing and hold the Ctrl key to open PowerPoint to see if it works.
    3. May I confirm that if there is a Macro enabled in your PowerPoint? If so, please go to File>Option>Trust center>Truset center setting>Macro setting to disable Macro to see the outcome.

If this issue persists, please provide the following information when you have time:

    1. What's your current Office version.
    2. Please create a new file to check if this issue is related to a specific file.

Please have a try and share the result with us.

    Best Regards

    Higgins

    Hi Higgins,

I tried the 3 steps you suggested but am still encountering the problem, even in a new file.  I'm currently using Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus (version 1908; build 11929.20776). Any other help is appreciated.

    Best,

    Sarah
